Achievements and decisions

This last week has been pretty huge for me in many ways.  I discovered I had been shortlisted for woman of the year in the arts by The Portsmouth News and I had a very positive one-to-one meeting with artist advisor, Jonathan Parsons.  I left feeling pretty encouraged about my worth as an artist and arts organiser, and was especially happy that he was shocked at how I manage to do everything… which is nice.

I have now received my Research Question for the module: “How can the end user/audience experience be enhanced through creatively exploring materiality?

I have been reflecting on this question without much hope at the moment; I have no real idea where to start from and I very much wish I had been given question 4.  I would have written about Situationism for that; but alas I did not get that question I got this one and I will have to wrack my brains more.

With regard to my main project shortly after I last wrote I decided upon a very loose theme of my project; something to do with anxiety/disability.  I have even arrived at ideas for two of the pieces through sitting down and doing loads of brainstorming and mind maps.

I have been researching about infrasound as I heard that it can cause ill affects in people through regular exposure.  My preliminary research has shown that there is evidence to suggest that it can induce anxiety in those who hear it (or don’t, as it’s sub-audible at 20 db and lower).  I plan to use infrasound quite predominantly but as I am very lacking in knowledge about this area I have arranged to see one of the tutors from the creative technologies department to find out how I can start.
