The following piece is for Project Two Thousand Fourteen. A year long piece where different visual practitioners are asked to create a piece in reaction to a headline piece of news each day. My day was May 8th and my piece is in relation to the news that Barclays bank is cutting up to 19000 employees. With a current workforce of 139,600 this equates to 13.6%. It is represented by 100 lines in the colours of Barclays logo. 13.6 of the lines are then blacked out to show the loss in pictorial terms. Black is used as it is the colour of mourning and loss; this was chosen to reflect the fact that people will be personally affected by this corporate decision.
